Subterfuge

Subterfuge-Is that the correct spelling of the word?

Q+A-Analysis on Russia's oil, mining sector

...Russia's gas export monopoly Gazprom (GAZP.MM) faces similar problems. In order to finance all its new projects (LNG initiatives, development of Yamal and Eastern Siberian deposits and the Pre-Caspian, Nord and South Stream pipelines) Gazprom would have to spend $30 billion annually for the foreseeable future. Even at times of high oil prices, Gazprom's investment programme rarely exceeded $4 billion. With $60 billion debt ($10 billion due in 2009) and exports halved because of the fall in demand, it is in no position to continue expanding. More to the point, major Russian banks' credit lines with Gazprom have reached their limits. It is possible that Gazprom will postpone development of capital-intensive Yamal and Eastern Siberian deposits and will concentrate on Shtokman, Nord Stream and South Stream projects, which are also politically significant for the Kremlin....

Are the attacks on Mayor Dixon a subterfuge or are they an example of stubbornness on the part of the State Prosecutor that says 'even if I lose, I'll win'?

It doesn't make sense, does it (that is the comparison)?

That's the point.

On April 1, 1940, then Attorney General Robert Jackson, speaking to United States Attorneys serving in each federal judicial district across the country, reminded them why justice should be their goal, not winning their cases. ``The prosecutor,'' he said, ``has more control over the life, liberty, and reputation than any other person in America. His discretion is tremendous ..... We must bear in mind that we are concerned solely with the prosecution of acts which the Congress has made federal
offenses.''

Costs of Prosecution

How much is this investigation costing the taxpayers?

We know that the "fiscal conservatives" don't want to waste the taxpayers' money.

The investigation was "dropped" by the Attorney General for the State of Maryland.

...In the gigantic federal bailout overseen by Neil's father's administration, Silverado's failure eventually cost the taxpayers about a billion dollars. (The cleanup of the much investigated Madison Guaranty, run by the late James McDougal of Whitewater infamy, cost about $65 million, or about $10 million less than the Starr investigation.)... Has the cost of this investigation been made public?

Why has the State Prosecutor investigated the Mayor, when the Federal Prosecutor decided that there was/is no case?

I had to turn off ****l radio on Saturday during the Sports' shows, due to the repeated airing of grim statements by a former Prosecutor of Baltimore County. There were no other opinions given except for a brief blurb of a prior Gov.'s opinion that you are innocent until proven guilty. Talk about bias. Not once did they give the Mayor's Representation's counter to the prior Baltimore County Prosecutor's opinions.

Does anybody believe that someone would throw their career away over $25.00 or $125.00 in gift cards?

This endless investigation: What a waste of tax dollars. After the Investigators Investigate, who Investigates the Investigators?

City streets

Has anyone noticed all of the work that is getting done on the city streets? It seems as if every area of the city has "road under construction" signs.

What an inconvenience!

Isn't this what we elect our officials to do. The city is cleaner, the streets are getting repaired, the street lights are getting fixed, crime has been reduced...

Wouldn't it be great if we lived in a society where our Mayor is judged on the quality of her work instead of bad press on a issue that was dropped by federal prosecutors?
